If the Government makes one more cut or raises one more tax, it is fair to say that there will be no more money left at all in household budgets this year. I mean, talk about tackling a problem like a bull in a china shop.
With this in mind, it would appear that we all have to be frugal this year and save wherever we can. This has to extend to the annual holiday. But fear not, there is still an excellent idea out there which will mean that you are not really making a compromise at all.
Why not consider exploring your own country in more depth? After all, if our economy is in such a poor state, why not inject more capital into our own tourist industry, rather than boosting the economy of another country - something we are all getting a bit fed up with lately. Whether it is a charming country chalet in Cornwall or delightful Scarborough Cottages that afford spectacular views out to sea, there is much more to old Blighty than you may think.
You may even want to head farther north - into the wilds of Scotland. The Highlands are amongst the most beautiful parts of the world you are ever likely to see.
So, this year, perhaps it is time to stay at home and spend whatever money we can afford within our own economy. After all, charity really does begin at home!
